The DoD announced a complete overhaul of the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) program in early November 2021. CMMC will be required for all DoD contractors in the near future; it is a consolidated framework for reaching security requirements in the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS).
Since its first edition, the CMMC has unified the implementation of various National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) frameworks under one banner—CMMC 2.0 builds on that foundation, further streamlining the compliance process.
In our document, you’ll learn about the proposed structure for CMMC 2.0 and how it differs from prior iterations (three Levels instead of five). You’ll also see how your organization should prepare for CMMC 2.0 implementation. RSI Security is a Certified Third Party Assessor Organization (C3PAO) that will optimize your certification, securing preferred contractor status.
Some of the things you’ll learn will include:
- Prioritizing and scoping your NIST implementation
- Orienting your organization for the NIST framework
- Creating an accurate and complete risk profile
- Conducting an efficient NIST risk assessment
- Implementing NIST according to gap analysis
